collaborator: -Home to a growing number of international organisations, the city of The Hague embodies the ambition of the kingdom of the Netherlands of being a Host Nation. The profile of said organisations (Europol, International Criminal Court, Eurojust, etc) has helped strengthen the branding of the city as the global hub for Peace & Justice.
Some of the largest intergovernmental organisations are located around the Zorgvlietpark. Their agglomeration in a pseudo-campus setting - known as the International Zone - poses a number of urban challenges: the juxtaposition of the large structures appears to have gradually subtracted the site from the rest of the city; in fact, the poor quality of the public space as well as its scarcity has turned this archipelago of international organisations into a colossal autarkic island that neighbouring residents prefer to bypass rather than traverse.
In the summer of 2019, NoRA - selected as one of the 6 Young Innovators 2019 - was tasked to reflect on the International Zone of the Hague and devise a set of actions that could improve the accessibility of the site and the quality of its public space as well as identify new plots for additional development.
As it seems no longer possible to bring this site back into the fold of the conventional city - the scale of the buildings, the specificity of their functions being by essence unconventional - we propose to fully embrace its exceptional nature where in place of the current aggregate of autonomous entities with each their own fence, their own parking, their own security, the vision for a true campus could be realised where some of the supporting infrastructure is shared and the entire perimeter is secured.
A visually coherent open space. In the International Zone, the individuality of each entity is strong and needs to be acknowledged. There is little leeway to intervene on the built environment. Instead, we choose to focus on the unbuilt, the space in-between. We propose a fantasy landscape traversed by strategic public routes. Landscape would be used as a common denominator, a unifier. Here, the design of the open space supersedes prosaic logistical requirements, not the other way around. We aim to create a visually seamless and coherent landscape where boundaries between public and private are integrated without being readily apparent.
A clear public trajectory. We propose to incorporate smaller scale light architectural structures that would accommodate shared public programs; the architecture of these pavilions would be more delicate and more refined to break the monopoly of supersized mastodons and create a welcoming public trajectory inside the park. Clear paths and through flows are identified within the public realm and would intersect at the location of those pavilions. The public circuit includes the Zorgvlietpark which we envision as an unequivocally public, porous and open park that one can cycle or walk through.
A central and secure gateway. To ensure the security of the campus, we propose to neutralise the main threat that stems from vehicles by centralizing their entry/exit into a shared car park from under the main road, over 30m away from any facades, where they can be screened if and when required. This also allows to reduce the road profile back to strictly 2x2 lanes over the entire length of the road and stitch the two banks of the International Zone together.
ハーグ市は、多くの国際機関が集まる都市であり、オランダ王国の「ホスト国家」としての野心を体現しています。ユーロポール、国際刑事裁判所、ユーロジャストなどの機関の存在は、ハーグを「平和と正義のグローバルハブ」としてのブランドを強化しています。
これらの大規模な政府間機関は、ゾルフリート公園周辺に集まっており、これらが形成する擬似キャンパス（国際ゾーン）にはいくつかの都市的な課題があります。大きな建物が並ぶことで、敷地が市街地から切り離されている印象があり、公共空間の質が低く、またその欠如により、この国際機関の群島は近隣住民が避ける大規模な孤立地帯となっています。
2019年夏、NoRAは「Young Innovators 2019」の1つとして選ばれ、ハーグの国際ゾーンについて考察し、サイトのアクセス性や公共空間の質を改善するためのアクションを提案し、追加開発のための新しいプロットを特定する任務を受けました。
このサイトを従来の都市の一部として取り戻すことはもはや不可能であると考えられるため（建物の規模や機能の特異性から）、我々はその例外的な性質を完全に受け入れる提案をします。現在の独立したエンティティの集合体を置き換え、共通のインフラを共有し、全体の周囲をセキュリティで確保する本当のキャンパスのビジョンを実現することを提案します。
視覚的に一貫したオープンスペース
国際ゾーンでは、各エンティティの個性が強く、これを認識する必要があります。建物の環境に干渉する余地は少ないため、未建築の部分、すなわち「間の空間」に焦点を当てます。戦略的な公共ルートが通るファンタジーランドスケープを提案し、ランドスケープを共通の基盤、統一因子として活用します。ここでは、オープンスペースのデザインが単なる物流要件を超えており、公共と私的な境界が目立たずに統合されることを目指します。
明確な公共の軌跡
共有の公共プログラムを収容するために、小規模な軽量の建築構造を取り入れることを提案します。これらのパビリオンの建築は、超大型の建物の独占を打破し、パーク内に歓迎する公共の経路を創出するために、より繊細で洗練されたデザインになります。公共空間内での明確な道筋と通路がパビリオンの位置で交差し、公共サーキットはサイクリングや歩行ができる公園としてのゾルフリート公園を含みます。
中央の安全ゲートウェイ
キャンパスのセキュリティを確保するために、車両からの主な脅威を中和するため、主要道路の下にある共有駐車場への出入りを中央集約することを提案します。これにより、道路の幅を全長で2x2レーンに縮小し、国際ゾーンの両岸をつなげることができます。
CHARLOTTE DUMAS “BEZOAR” EXHIBITIO

collaborator: haruka uemura, k2lab(waseda university), / contractor: higureThis is an exhibition design for a renown dutch artist/photographer, Charlotte Dumas, at Maison Hermes Ginza which is famous for its building designed by Renzo Piano. The challenge of the project is to balance between the beautiful light shimmering through the custom made glass bricks, with the practicality of providing necessary shades for two film works to be projected, and for other photographs and objects.
Inspired by Charlotte’s works which focus on the relationships between animals and humans, we thought of a minimum intervention which can be resembling man-made elements which sit in the natural sceneries, such as the wind-breakers on the beach or fences in the field. The wooden structure is not meant to be used in a specific manner, but one can either sit or lay on it, objects or photographs can hang using it, and projection against it.

オランダの著名なアーティスト兼写真家、シャーロット・デュマスのための展覧会デザイン。会場は、レンゾ・ピアノが設計した建物で知られる銀座のメゾン・エルメスです。今回の課題は、特注のガラスレンガを通して差し込む美しい光を生かしつつ、2つの映像作品の投影や、他の写真・オブジェクトに必要な遮光を確保することでした。
シャーロットの動物と人間の関係をテーマにした作品から着想を得て、自然の中に溶け込む人工物、例えばビーチの風よけや野原のフェンスのような、最小限のデザインを考えました。この木製の構造物は特定の用途を持たず、座ったり、横になったり、物や写真を掛けたり、映像を投影するなど、自由に使うことができます。

collaborator: -The competition brief called for the urban and architectural design for a Knowledge and Innovation Center: a business service and technology park in the city of Tripoli, Lebanon to be located within the Rachid Karami International Fair, a campus designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1960s and that is currently listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
"Invisible city" The core of our proposal is a sunken and flat office campus which accommodates 75% of the total BUA underground and is complemented by three animated low-rise buildings that emerge at the least obstructing locations in relation to the existing buildings. While the sunken striped office floor with its alternating courtyards is designed as an efficient and flexible field of workspaces, the three additional pavilions on top suggest a degree of playfulness in the context of the RKIF site as a whole.
"An interactive environment" In recent years, horizontality has globally returned as the model for office environments that strive to offer maximum interaction among coworkers and maximum flexibility in occupation. As such, our proposal embraces this model not only to maintain continuity within the office spaces, but to build a strong and immediate relationship with the programmed outdoor spaces taking full advantage of the Lebanese temperate climate.
"A public landscape" With most of its building mass sunken, the new Knowledge and Innovation Center becomes a continuous public landscape that expands the existing Rachid Karami International Fair’s public realm: an open field of experimentation with urban sculptures, exhibition spaces and playgrounds while sunken courtyards serve as outdoor extensions to the office spaces.
このコンペティションは、レバノン・トリポリにある「ナレッジ・イノベーションセンター」、つまりビジネスサービスとテクノロジーパークの都市計画と建築設計を求めたものです。敷地は1960年代にオスカー・ニーマイヤーが設計し、現在ユネスコ世界遺産暫定リストに登録されているラシッド・カラミ国際博覧会内に位置しています。
「インビジブル・シティ（見えない都市）」というコンセプトの下、私たちの提案では、全体の75%を地下に収めたフラットなオフィスキャンパスを中心に据えました。既存の建物を邪魔しない場所に、3つの低層の建物を配置しています。地下にあるストライプ状のオフィスフロアは、交互に配置された中庭を含む効率的で柔軟なワークスペースとして設計されており、その上に配置された3つのパビリオンは、全体のデザインに遊び心を加えています。
「インタラクティブな環境」近年、水平的なオフィス環境は、従業員同士の交流を最大限に促進し、柔軟な利用を可能にするモデルとして世界的に注目されています。この提案では、オフィス内の連続性を保ちつつ、温暖なレバノンの気候を生かして、屋外スペースとの強い結びつきを形成しています。
「公共のランドスケープ」。建物の大部分を地下に配置することで、新しいナレッジ・イノベーションセンターは、既存のラシッド・カラミ国際博覧会の公共空間を拡張するものになります。都市彫刻や展示スペース、遊び場などが広がる実験的なフィールドが形成され、地下の中庭はオフィススペースの屋外エリアとしても機能します。

RE-PLAY is a Research on Play and/in/with the City that discusses the broader definition of the word play as it encompasses the notions of engaging in an activity for enjoyment and recreation, being cooperative, participating but also as a noun, play means the space in or through which a mechanism can or does move => a room for manoeuvre, a margin, leeway.
The booklet is an image-based compilation of contrasting practices or theories about Play in the urban environment (Huizinga, Lefebvre, Constant, van Eyck, Matta-Clark, Corbusier and others) accompanied by a question, quote or statement that invites the reader to reflect further on the topic and form their own conviction.
RE-PLAY was presented at the 1st Edition of African Crossroads that took place in December 2018 in Marrakesh.
Inspired by the idea that the seminar was being held just outside the city, in a sort of autarkic and private bubble, NoRA proposed to sample Marrakesh’s most iconic public space - the Jemaa el Fna square - on-site by installing one of its typical snails stalls in the very polished garden of the seminar’s venue. With its combination of shading, seating and lighting, this simple piece of furniture immediately became a natural meet-up spot for impromptu gatherings where participants would come together throughout the day and co-create a shared space where ideas were exchanged and conversations had. The stall drew discussions from inside the walls into the outdoors.

「RE-PLAY」は、都市における「遊び」をテーマにしたリサーチプロジェクトであり、「遊び」という言葉の広義な定義を探求します。これは、楽しみや娯楽のために活動に参加することや、協力すること、参加することを含む概念です。また、「遊び」は名詞として、機構が動くための空間や余裕、つまり「動きの余地」や「猶予」を意味します。
この小冊子は、都市環境における「遊び」に関するさまざまな実践や理論を、イメージを中心に対比しながらまとめたものです。フイジンガ、ルフェーヴル、コンスタント、ヴァン・エイク、マッタ＝クラーク、ル・コルビュジエなどの理論家やアーティストの考えが引用され、読者がさらにこのテーマについて考え、自分の意見を形成できるよう、質問や引用、声明が添えられています。
「RE-PLAY」は、2018年12月にマラケシュで開催された第1回アフリカン・クロスロードにて発表されました。このセミナーは都市の外、独立的でプライベートな空間で開催されていたことから、NoRAはマラケシュの象徴的な公共空間であるジャマ・エル・フナ広場の典型的なカタツムリ屋台を、会場の洗練された庭にインストールするという提案を行いました。このシンプルな屋台は、日除け、座席、照明の機能を備え、即座に参加者たちが集まり、アイデアや対話を共有する即興の集会所となりました。これにより、セミナー内の議論が屋外に引き出され、活発な交流が生まれました。

One thing that became clear following the global impact of Covid-19, is that we need physical space not only to face someone directly, but rather to share the same space with others without necessary speaking with them nor facing them. The way we confront others via online narrows the experience down to either ON or OFF conditions, and yet in most of the typical Japanese detached houses, with strict contrast between isolated small bedrooms and one large living room/dining room/kitchen combined, the experience of the physical living spaces end up being very similar to that of the online. In this house for a couple with a child, our intension is to create series of fragmented spaces within single ambiguous territory, through which each family members can freely hover and find their own positions, separated but still connected within the same space. This idea of providing choices of connection and isolation is what we believe the strength of physical space, and simultaneously can be defined as the “sense of belonging” in current day society.
The building is supported by two cubic timber frame structure overlapping to each other with a slight shift in positions. On the ground floor, the overlap of the frames form a cross-shaped core, which not only secures the bearing capacity but also houses equipment, storage, and stairs. The cross walls are designed to connect the living spaces through the perimeter corridor, while dividing them like a rotating stage set.
On the second floor, the perimeter is enclosed by a ring of storage and equipment volumes to secure the distance from the neighboring dwellings while allowing light from the second floor openings to fall to the ground floor through the openings. In contrast to the segmented space on the first floor, the second floor is a continuous space, divided softly with operable soundproof fabrics.
帰属性の担保から接続性の確保へ
コロナ禍を経て、ひとつ明らかになったこととして、私等は「対面しないため」にも実空間が必要だということだと思います。直接関わりをもたずとも閉じきらず、いつでも繋がれるという選択肢がある状態こそが、住まいに限らず、都市やデジタル空間をも横断する上での、今後の可能性のように感じています。小さい住宅の中で広いリビング空間を確保しようとする方法は、それ以外の空間を犠牲にし、また住まい内における孤立や、不平等をも際立たせてきたように思います。代わりに、より断片化した空間の集まりが、曖昧な領域の中に漂い、多様な接続と適度な断絶の選択肢を支えられるような状態を考えてみました。
軸組の基本形でもある田の字型架構を２つずらしながら重ねることで、地上階ではその重なりが十字型のコアを成し、耐力の確保に加え、設備、収納、階段等を中に納めています。この十字壁は回転型の舞台セットのように、生活の場を分節しつつも、外周の通路ごしに接続しているように計画しています。２つの田の字型の架構を断面方向でもずらすことで、個々の空間の床や天井の高さに変化を与えると同時に、光や視線が垂直方向へと抜けることで、１階の分節された空間の閉塞感を軽減しています。２階では、外周部分を収納や設備ボリュームでリング状に囲うことで、近接する周辺住居から屋内にて距離を確保しつつ、吹き抜けを介して２階の開口からの光を地上階へと落とすよう計画しています。１階の分節空間に対し、２階はひと続きの空間を設けることで、あえて閉じた個室を作らず、代わりに防音性の高いカーテンで柔らかく分節出来るようにしています。（小林）
ストラクチュラルリンクレイヤ
本プロジェクトでは、スキップフロア状に重なる2つの田の字型軸組、耐震性能の要となる1階十字状コアと2階リング状ボリュームという分散的建築要素を成立させつつ構造の安定性を確保することがテーマであった。中2階の800mmレベル差に構造上重要な要素を配置する計画とし、外周部では横連層耐力壁（シェアウォールバンド）、内部ではレベル差のある床をつなげる耐力壁と筋交いを配置して架構を安定化する。田の字型軸組が平面的に重なる位置に間柱を設け立体格子梁としてロングスパン化する。ストラクチュラルリンクレイヤとして、中2階で構造上の多様な接続を行うことで断片化した空間の多様な接続を具現化している。(楠本)

The new Ministry of Culture fits into the context of the administrative district of Hay Riad using a sober and refined style. The silhouette of the building stands out due to its minimal volume.
Its abstract appearance and the unitary aspect of its facade give it a resolutely contemporary presence while the transparency of the ground floor is an invitation to share Culture.
The use of two types of glazing on the façade gives the building an impression of levitation with an upper part enveloped in screen-printed glass of a rather translucent appearance which "floats" above a transparent base.
The setbacks imposed by the development plan are taken into account here from the project and give it a certain dynamic in its otherwise rational volume.
Le nouveau Ministère de la Culture s'insère dans le contexte du quartier administratif de Hay Riad selon une écriture sobre et épurée. La silhouette du bâtiment se détache de par sa volumétrie minimale.
Son apparence abstraite et l'aspect unitaire de sa façade lui confère une présence résolument contemporaine tandis que la transparence du rez-de-chaussée est une invitation au partage de la Culture.
L'utilisation de deux types de vitrage en façade donne au bâtiment une impression de lévitation avec une partie supérieure enveloppée de verre sérigraphié d'apparence plutôt translucide qui "flotte" au-dessus d'une base transparente.
Les retraits imposés par le plan d'aménagement sont ici pris en compte du projet et lui insufflent une certaine dynamique dans sa volumétrie par ailleurs rationnelle.
新しい文化省ビルは、ハイ・リヤードの行政地区に、シンプルで洗練されたデザインで溶け込んでいます。建物のシルエットは、最小限のボリュームによって際立っています。
その抽象的な外観と統一感のあるファサードは、現代的な存在感を醸し出しています。一方で、1階部分の透明性は文化の共有を促す招待状のような役割を果たしています。
ファサードに使用されている2種類のガラスが、建物に浮遊感を与えています。上部はシルクスクリーン加工された半透明のガラスで包まれ、透明な基盤の上に「浮かんでいる」ように見えます。
計画に基づいた後退がプロジェクトに取り入れられ、合理的なボリュームの中に動的な要素を加えています。
GORDON MATTA-CLARK EXHIBITION

This first full-scale retrospective in Asia presents no less than 200 items that offer a rare window into Matta-Clark’s prolific 10-year career and eclectic production. The exhibition – designed as a playground for interaction with the art – is open until September 17, 2018.
Designing an exhibition for Gordon Matta-Clark begins with the paradox of exhibiting his site-specific art (or the documentation thereof) inside a white cube that he himself had so carefully avoided. Simultaneously, any attempt to show his art in a designed and/or forcibly staged way inevitably faces the danger of resulting in a bad replica of his own work. Hence, most Matta-Clark exhibitions so far tend to be modest, perhaps one could even say not so engaging.
For the MOMAT, we propose to create a playground inside the white cube. In a time where playgrounds and parks in the city are becoming ever so restricted and controlled, the ambition here is to use this exhibition as an opportunity to reflect on the limitations being applied to public spaces in the city.
By distributing and hanging most of Matta-Clark’s art on the perimeter walls of the white cube, a central space was created, freed from the burden of showing the work, and thus made available to the visitor to take a step back from the art and reflect, wonder, relax and question. Various building elements are scattered around as playground objects, encouraging the visitor's proactive engagement with the space.
2018年6月18日、東京の国立近代美術館で「ゴードン・マッタ＝クラーク：空間の変容」展が開幕しました。このアジアで初めての大規模な回顧展では、マッタ＝クラークの多様な10年間の活動を垣間見ることができる、200点以上の作品が展示されています。この展覧会は、アートとの対話を促す遊び場のようにデザインされており、2018年9月17日まで開催されました。
ゴードン・マッタ＝クラークの展覧会をデザインする際には、彼自身が避けてきた白いキューブ空間の中で、彼のサイトスペシフィックなアート（またはその記録）を展示するという矛盾に直面します。また、彼の作品を意図的にデザインし展示しようとする試みは、しばしば彼の作品の劣化したレプリカになってしまう危険性もはらんでいます。そのため、これまでのマッタ＝クラーク展は控えめなものが多く、魅力に欠けるとさえ言えるかもしれません。
MOMATのために提案されたのは、白いキューブの中に遊び場を作るというアイデアです。都市の遊び場や公園がますます制限され、管理される時代において、この展覧会を都市の公共空間に課されている制約について考える機会とすることを目指しています。
マッタ＝クラークの作品の多くを白いキューブの周囲の壁に配置することで、中央のスペースが作品を展示するという負担から解放され、訪問者がアートから一歩引いて、思索したり、驚いたり、くつろいだり、疑問を投げかけたりできる空間が生まれました。さまざまな建築要素が遊び場のオブジェとして散りばめられ、訪問者が積極的に空間と対話できるように工夫されています。

collaborator: acoustic consultant: acoustic logicTo intervene in a planted park exacerbates the fact that the perception of any building will differ drastically through the seasons. Its presence will be more or less evident, made more or less pregnant. In no instance, should it ever be an unwelcome disturbance to the pre-existing balance. For that reason, the project cannot be a monolith. We thus propose to translate the programmatic and functional requirements of the brief into 3 delicate fragments of a scale not entirely foreign to the current ecosystem. They form an assemblage that is cemented by the park. Not an intruder, it seems as though the International Music Centre was always part of the village fabric that inhabits the ecological park.
As per the brief requirements, the concert hall, the education facilities and the conference centre are to occupy separate areas within the Music Centre. We take this idea further and propose to accommodate each one in a separate volume:
The bigger mass houses the main programmatic organ, the auditorium. It is directly oriented towards Chopin’s house.
The second building constitutes the functional and physical heart of the composition: it accommodates the entrance to the complex, the chamber hall as well as the educational facilities and the offices.
The necessary physical connections between these two fragments are facilitated by a virtually invisible 2-storey plinth embedded into the topography and that accommodates the parking on the lower level and the lobby, foyer and the rehearsal rooms on the semi-buried ground floor.
The third component is a linear volume that sits parallel to the Utrata river and houses the conference centre.
The proposed massing not only allows for the right scale of insertion of the project within the park; it invites the visitor to use the park between the fragments as the antechamber of the Music Centre. All public spaces such as the exhibition hall are directly accessible from the antechamber, creating a seamless relation between interior and exterior and offering the opportunity to use the park as an extension of the Music Centre where various outdoor events can be hosted.
We propose the use of rammed earth as a main construction and finishing material for the International Music Centre.
木々が広がる自然豊かな公園に介入するということは、建物の存在感が季節によって大きく変化するということでもあります。そのボリュームは、周辺環境の変化に応じて顕著になったり、控えめになったりしますが、いかなる場合でも、既存のバランスを乱すような不快な存在であってはなりません。そのため、本提案では我々はプログラム上の条件を一つの巨大な塊としてではなく、環境に違和感なく溶け込む版築で覆われた3つの小さい単位に落とし込むことを提案しています。これら断片化された音楽ホールは、公園のランドスケープによって結ばれ、まるで以前からこの場所にあったかのように、景観の一部となることを想定しています。
要求された設計条件に従い、コンサートホール、教育施設、会議センターは、それぞれ別々に配置される必要があります。我々はこのアイデアをさらに発展させ、各施設を個別の建物として計画することを提案します。
最も大きな建物には、主な機能であるオーディトリアムが収容され、ショパンの家に向かって配置されています。
2つ目の建物は、複合施設の機能的および物理的な中心を構成し、エントランスホール、チェンバーホール、教育施設、オフィス等を収容します。
これら2つの要素間の接続は、ほとんど見えない2層の基壇によって達成されており、下層には駐車場、半地下の1階にはロビー、ホワイエ、リハーサル室が配置されています。
3つ目の構成要素は、ウトラタ川に並行して配置された線状の建物で、会議センターを収容します。
この提案された配置は、プロジェクトを公園内に適切なスケールで挿入することを可能にするだけでなく、建物の断片のあいだに広がる公園を、音楽センターの前庭として利用することを可能とします。展示ホールなどの公共スペースは、この前庭から直接アクセスでき、屋内と屋外のシームレスな関係を生み出し、様々な野外イベントを開催するための場を提供しています。
CHITGAR BRIDGE-MASTERPLAN

Located in west Tehran, District 22, defined as a dominantly recreational area in the Tehran masterplan, has been the ground for the most recent large-scale developments in the city. The district contains two of the foremost natural features and recreational destinations of metropolitan Tehran, Chitgar Forest Park and the Persian Gulf Lake.
While both the Chitgar forest park and the Persian Gulf lake currently serve individually as major recreational destinations, lack of a coherent and strong connection between the two, has deprived them from playing a complementary role and taking advantage of their co-existence. As such, this project intends to redefine the functional and physical link between the south bank of the lake and the northern edge of the forest park.
In brief, the proposal consists of two inter-connected parts; a) the Connector and b) the masterplan in the form of a commercial-recreational campus.
The Connector
The main connecting element, symbolically formed as an iconic ring, is a panoramic platform that serves as both a functional bridge between the lake and the forest, as well as a public destination for sports, events, exhibitions, outdoor performances, restaurants and activities for children. Moreover, it is a 360° promenade with open views to the lake, the mountains, the forest, and the city of Tehran.
The ring is 16m wide in two merging levels; the lower one which bridges between the forest and the elevated lake bank (7m height difference) is where the main program activities are located, and the upper one which provides an opportunity for open panoramic views, functions as a multi-purpose event space.
The Masterplan
Tied strongly to the ring via two pedestrian axes and a gridded public park, the masterplan proposes a commercial-recreational campus which forms the southern edge of the lake and the highway. As such, the plan intends to provide private investment opportunities in sectors aligned with the aspirations of the Tehran Masterplan, namely entertainment, culture, recreation and creative industry. While the Ring is considered as a primary destination on the western edge of the plan, the eastern end consists of an entertainment anchor (a Cineplex). The ring and the Cineplex therefore, form two attractive poles on the two-opposite ends of the masterplan, serving an audience at the metropolitan scale.

コネクター
主要な連結要素であり、象徴的にリング状に形成されたこの要素は、湖と森林の間の機能的な橋として機能するだけでなく、スポーツ、イベント、展示会、屋外パフォーマンス、レストラン、子供向けのアクティビティなどの一般的な目的地としても役立ちます。さらに、湖、山々、森林、テヘラン市を見渡せる360°の散歩道でもあります。
このリングは2つのレベルで幅16mあり、下のレベルは森林と高台の湖岸（高さ7mの差がある）を結びつける場所で、主要なプログラム活動が行われ、上のレベルは開放的なパノラマの景色を楽しむ機会を提供し、多目的のイベントスペースとして機能します。
マスタープラン
このリングと密接につながり、2つの歩行者用軸と格子状の公共公園を介して、マスタープランは湖と高速道路の南端に商業とレクリエーションのキャンパスを提案しています。そのため、この計画はテヘラン都市計画の志向に合致するエンターテインメント、文化、レクリエーション、クリエイティブ産業などの分野での民間投資の機会を提供することを意図しています。リングは計画の西端における主要な目的地と見なされており、東端にはエンターテインメントアンカー（シネプレックス）が存在しています。したがって、このリングとシネプレックスは、大都市スケールの観客にサービスを提供する2つの魅力的な極を形成しています。

collaborators: -The working hypothesis is that urbanisation in sub-Saharan Africa does not systematically translate into a higher standard of living because new urban dwellers are uneducated, unskilled and therefore unequipped to contribute to and benefit from the economy of the city.
While many studies look at the consequences of migration and focus on engineering solutions for the city to cope with rampant urbanisation, we investigate the viability of installing capital centres at the heart of rural communities that would provide education, vocational training and other basic services to the local populations so that if/when it occurs, urbanisation becomes a more constructive process that is proportionally paralleled by a steady and shared economic growth and human development.
The self-initiated field research project aims at developing a design & build brief for a pilot rural capital centre; Senegal was chosen as a case-study as it is a country where the rate of exodus is not so extreme that it would render any attempt to reverse it completely vain.
Mass migration. In sub-Saharan Africa, countries are often monocephalic and overcentralised around their capital cities; this leads to the overpopulation and unaffordability of those capitals. As a result, unsanitary informal settlements proliferate, demonstrating the inability of the new urban dwellers to face the demands of the city as much as the mere incapacity of the urban system to absorb the large number of migrants: today 62% of urban dwellers in sub-Saharan Africa live in slums.
Unskilled workforce. The insufficient level of education and/or skills of rural migrants forces them into the low-income informal labor market. Consequently, the exponential growth of African cities in terms of inhabitants - thus theoretical workforce - is not reflected by the populations’ standard of living. For many, the urban living conditions often prove harsher than they had anticipated as 70% of all 14 million annual rural migrants end up in slums struggling to make a living.
Depopulating and impoverished countryside. Rural-urban migrations affect not just the cities: exodus translates into the depletion of rural villages - whose economies rely solely on agriculture - from their young population and lifeblood, thus accelerating their decline. The 2017 World Economic Forum on Africa in Kigali, Rwanda, emphasized that “with 70% of Africans dependent on agriculture for livelihoods, the sector is critical to the economies of all African countries. As a sector its growth is central to increasing prosperity, food security, industrialization, intra-African trade and to bolstering Africa’s contribution to global trade.” Yet agriculture contributes only marginally to GDP due to poor productivity. It has indeed remained for the most part the occupation of smallholder farmers that rely largely on rain-fed agriculture and manual labour. As such while it occupies many, it yields little. This is due partly to a difficult access to good quality seeds, unaffordable fertilisers, insufficient knowledge and training in soil and water management as well as to the effects of climate change: seasons have become erratic, rain unpredictable, desertification progresses.
Agricultural revolution. With 60% of the world’s unexploited arable land located in Africa at a time where global food security is an ever-pressing issue, boosting productivity is a central concern. Mechanised processes are being introduced: computerised tractors will soon be the norm and promise (or is it threaten?) to redesign the African countryside into rigorous patchworks of rectilinear patterns. How is the use of high technology, perhaps even robotics, the installation of reliable irrigation systems and the incorporation of architectural devices such as glasshouses - offering controlled environments to intensively grow crops all year round regardless of climate - configure a new geography across the continent? Could the advent of a productive agriculture sector mean that rural youths will see value and opportunity in their villages? Could being a farmer become a conscious career choice rather than a merely inherited misfortune?

多くの研究が、移住の影響を調査し、急速な都市化に対処するための技術的な解決に焦点を当てている中で、私たちは地方コミュニティの中心部に「資本センター」を設置する可能性を調査し、それが地元住民に教育、職業訓練、その他の基本的なサービスを提供し、都市化が発生した場合に、経済発展と人の成長が安定し、共有されるプロセスとなるかどうかを検討しています。
自己発起型の現地調査プロジェクトは、実験的な地方の資本センターの設計と建設のための要件を開発することを目指しています。セネガルはケーススタディとして、出国率が極端ではない国であったため選ばれました。

農業革命：世界の未利用の可耕地の60％がアフリカに位置しています。世界的な食糧安全保障が常に切迫している状況で、生産性の向上は中心的な問題です。機械化プロセスが導入されており、コンピュータ制御のトラクターがすぐに普及し、アフリカの農村を気候に関係なく一年中作物を密集して育てる制御環境を提供する温室などの建築機器の組み込みによって、大陸全体で新しい地理を設計することを約束（もしくは脅迫？）しています。生産的な農業セクターの出現は、農村の若者が自分の村に価値と機会を見つけることにつながる可能性があるでしょうか？農民であることは、押し付けられた不幸ではなく、意識的な職業選択になる可能性があるでしょうか？

Going beyond conventional frameworks of theater, Akira Takayama’s “Wagner Project” brings the opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and street hip-hop together.
From October 20th of 2017, the project held public auditions along with lectures, workshops, MC battles, cyphers and other events where crews demonstrated their rapping and poetry skills. The nine-day event - aimed at creating a new community within the theatre - showcased graffiti by snipe1, film archives and installations among others, presenting Wagner like it had never been seen before.
The stage set challenges the steet-ification of Wagner’s theatre by decentralizing and breaking up the stage. While the initial set was delivered as a bare framework, the accumulated traces and archives from each of the 9 performance days gradually inhabited and transformed the space.
高山明の「ワグナープロジェクト」は、従来の劇場の枠組みを超え、オペラ「ニュルンベルクのマイスタージンガー」とストリートヒップホップを結びつけます。
2017年10月20日から、このプロジェクトは一般公募オーディションと共に、講義、ワークショップ、MCバトル、サイファーなどのイベントを開催し、クルーがラップと詩のスキルを披露しました。この9日間のイベントは、劇場内で新しいコミュニティを創造することを目的とし、snipe1によるグラフィティ、映画のアーカイブ、インストール作品などが展示され、ワグナーをこれまでにない形で紹介しました。
舞台セットは、ワグナーの劇場のストリート化に挑戦し、ステージを分散化し、分割ししました。最初のセットは空のフレームとして設置されましたが、9日間の公演の各日から蓄積された痕跡とアーカイブが徐々にその空間を占拠し、変容させました。

In a world where the digital media seem to consistently take centre stage, one could almost forget about manual crafts which not only subsist but continue to flourish quietly in the background. In Armenia those crafts form part of a strong cultural heritage that - as for every heritage - ought to be perpetually transmitted to the next generation.
It is the Tumanyan Park that will accommodate the scene for that transmission to take place: the site, on the edge of the park, is an improbable steep slope at first sight, but makes perfect sense upon reflection. The stern topography offers a condition where the building can be perceived in different ways from different vantage points but can never be revealed in its entirety. The new TUMO studios for the manual crafts are tucked into the slope; they emerge from the slope, quiet and discreet, they are discovered rather than plainly seen.
With the addition of the new TUMO Studios, the Tumanyan Park reinforces its appeal as a destination for the youth of Yerevan, from school goers to young adults. Not only as a place of leisure but as a focal point for Production in the realm of the creative industries. While they occupy opposite sides of the park, the Centre and the Studios feed off each other’s energy and, together, form the full spectrum of the ‘making’.
The TUMO Studios are envisioned as an interactive continuum in which various functions are exposed to one another, both visually and functionally. Unlike many industrial workshops which tend to isolate the production within strict boundaries, we create a place where production, work, exhibition and presentation co-habit in a single uninterrupted space. The project is thus articulated as a loop of interlocking programmatic components that wrap around a central void, revealing the natural topography at the heart of the studios.
デジタルメディアが常に主役であるかのように見える世界では、その陰でひっそりと栄え続けている手工芸の存在を忘れそうになります。アルメニアでは、こうした手工芸は強力な文化遺産の一部であり、あらゆる遺産と同様、次世代に永久的に継承されるべきものです。
「トゥマニャン・パーク」の端に位置するこの場所は、一見するとありえない急斜面ですが、よく考えてみると理にかなっています。険しい地形によって、建物をさまざまな視点からさまざまな見方をしても、決してその全体像を見ることはできません。手工芸のための新しいTUMOスタジオは、斜面の中にひっそりとたたずんでいます。
新しいTUMOスタジオが加わったことで、「トゥマニャン・パーク」は、学校に通う学生から若者まで、エレバンの若者の目的地としての魅力をさらに強化しています。レジャーの場としてだけでなく、クリエイティブ産業におけるプロダクションの中心地としても機能しています。センターとスタジオは公園の反対側を占めていますが、互いのエネルギーを高め合い、共に「制作」の全領域を形成しています。
TUMOスタジオは、視覚的にも機能的にも、様々な機能が互いに触れ合うインタラクティブな連続体として構想されています。厳格な境界線の中で制作を隔離しがちな多くの工業ワークショップとは異なり、私たちは、「制作」「作業」「展示」「プレゼンテーション」が中断のないひとつの空間に同居する場所をつくりだします。このプロジェクトは、中央のヴォイドを取り囲むように連動するプログラムの構成要素がループを描くように配置され、スタジオの中心にある自然の地形を表出させます。
MICA MALL CABLE-CAR STATION

Located on the rooftop of Mica Mall in Kish Island, Iran, Mica Cable-Car Station serves as a point of arrival from, and departure to the renowned Recreational Pier of the Island. Therefore, the station space is meant to be one of the main entrance lobbies of the shopping mall.
The design intent is to render visible the cable-car's flow and sophisticated mechanism from inside the shopping mall. The inner skin of the station, facing the public areas, follows the form of the turning tracks, and the machinery is exposed through a transparent facade.
The flow of the cable-car is conceived of as a sequence of sensorial experiences that take place in a seamless succession of physical spaces that altogether form the station.
The significant height difference between the public areas of the mall and the cable-car station is taken advantage of to propose an iconic 120m ramp as a structuring element, around which all the major functions and components of the station are consolidated: ticket booth, foyer, VIP parking, operator room, boarding platform and cinema cafe.
That connecting ramp is the vector that merges the mall, the station platform and the cinema area in one single sculptural gesture.
イランのキシュ島にある「ミカ・モール」の屋上に位置する「ミカ・ケーブルカー・ステーション」は、キシュ島の有名な「レクリエーション・ピア」への到着と出発地点として機能しています。そのため、このステーションのスペースは、ショッピングモールのメインの入り口の一つとして設計されました。
デザインの目的は、ショッピングモールの中からケーブルカーの動きと高度なメカニズムを視覚化することです。ステーションの内側の壁は、公共エリアに向いており、ケーブルカーのレールの形に従っています。機械部分は透明なガラスで覆われています。
ケーブルカーの流れは、物理的な空間がつながり、連続した感覚的な体験が行われる一連の場所として考えられています。これらの場所が合わさって、ステーション全体を形成しています。
ショッピングモールの公共エリアとケーブルカーステーションとの高低差を利用して、象徴的な120メートルのスロープを提案しています。このスロープの周りには、チケットブース、ロビー、VIP駐車場、オペレータールーム、乗り場プラットフォーム、シネマカフェなど、ステーションの主要な機能と要素が統合されています。
この連結スロープは、モール、ステーションプラットフォーム、シネマエリアを一つの彫刻のような動きで結びつける要素です。
JORDAN OFFICE BUILDING

Collaborator:In the last decade, Jordan district, a high-end residential neighbourhood in Tehran, has transformed into a major commercial zone with companies often retrofitting existing residential buildings to house their offices.
NoRA’s project for this G+6 building is one of the rare instances where a structure is intently designed to accommodate offices.
To provide maximum flexibility in occupying the floor plates, the wet programs (restrooms and canteens) as well as the vertical circulation, utilities and storage rooms are all consolidated within a central core, thus resulting in two open office spaces on either side: to the north and to the south.
In contrast with the somewhat over expressive façades in the city, the exterior of the building is designed as a simple stack of horizontal bands that reflect the continuity and openness of the interior space. The dark and textured concrete bands, though simple, set the building apart.
ヨルダン地区は、テヘランの高級住宅街でありながら、過去10年間で主要な商業地域に変貌しました。多くの企業が既存の住宅をオフィスに改装して利用しています。
NoRAのG+6ビルのプロジェクトは、オフィスを意図的に収容する設計がなされた珍しい例の一つです。
フロアに最大のフレキシビリティを提供するために、トイレや食堂などの湿気を含むプログラム、垂直循環、設備、収納室はすべて中央のコアに統合されており、その結果、北と南に2つのオープンオフィススペースを配置しています。市内のやや過剰なファサードとは対照的に、建物の外観は内部空間の連続性と開放性を反映した水平バンドの積み重ねとしてデザインされています。シンプルなファサードですが、ダークでテクスチャーのあるコンクリートバンドによって、建物を際立たせています。
